Calls to some overlays will incurr a cost to you. You may have a method of reclaiming this from your customers, or you may be willing to shoulder the cost as part of the service you offer. In either case though, it can be useful to ensure that the call does not last for too long. By providing the maximumDuration parameter you can ensure that calls are cut off before they reach this point. Callers will hear a tone played every five seconds during the last 30 seconds of the call to warn them of the disconnect.
A customer is making a call through an overlay which generates a charge. This charge is passed on to the customer, but a credit limit is in place. This credit limit allows the current call to continue for 5 minutes and 45 seconds. We will inform ADNOS of this by use of the maximumDuration parameter.
Note, the duration is set on a per call basis, not as a total over all calls. This parameter is usually passed in conjuction with the maximumConnections parameter being set to 1.
